Most mainstream comics will have story lines which run to a certain length. Fortunately for a Batgeek like me, I have no need to buy a thousand or so issues of Batman and Detective comics to be able to pick up the threads of what’s happening, as most story lines will run for 6 or so issues. However this isn’t the case as with a book such as the one I picked up last week (thank you again FP grab bags!) which is midway through a long and winding story; Young Liars

Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 19:12 I’ve not posted since last week, after having one of my very enjoyable lost weekends. I’ve spent pretty much all of it catching up with Battlestar Galatica on box set ahead of the finale which starts later tonight on Sky One, but more of that later (I’ve also been educating myself with Volume Two of the Sandman series which one of us is bound to write about at some point).

Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 12:58 There are a number of mixed feelings that I get when I pick up issue 1 of a new series:
1) The possibility that if you carry on with this newfound series, it will turn into the next uber-classic (& eventually get reviewed by yours truly). I picked up Scalped from issue 1, & I love it. It’s so gritty they were using issues of it to improve road conditions when we had that mass of snow recently. As crime comics go, I think it’s going to inherit the space left by 100 Bullets.

Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 12:18 Given that this is my first news article with my new login, (cheers Rich), don't expect much. I've just read that the first ever issue of Action Comics went on sale this week. Yes the one from 1938 with the first ever appearance of Superman.

Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 19:06 Before I start (yes, I know, technically this is the start, so sue me) I’d like to point out that I’m writing this on a Mac. It’s not exactly difficult & the keyboard is in the same formation and stuff, but if you notice any @symbols where quote marks should be, then I’ve at least got an excuse.

Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 18:43 I think it’s fair to say that I’m pretty much entrenched in the comic book geek lifestyle. Thursdays are a day of pure unfiltered joy, not only for me, but also for the staff of my local comic book retailer, who start gleefully rubbing their hands together when I walk through the door and ask them for my standing order. Needless to say, I’ve got a monkey on my back. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t. However, I think this story has one of two possible outcomes:
Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 19:52 I'm an unashamed comic book geek. I love them, i love to read them, love to talk about them and like most comic book geeks of my age i just can't help hoarding them. I'm a nightmare (although i tip my hat to both the Catalogue Monkey and Cranky in terms of size and breadth of hoard!)

Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 17:01 It's the time of month when my Geek jones really starts to get the better of me. I, like many of the afflicted, have a fair sized comic monkey of around 30 titles a month (more at the moment thanks to the fact i'm totally queer for Batman, and he's gone cross over crazy). This is made affordable by the very generous discounts available on the Forbidden Planet Website. It may take the romance out of a weekly trip to the comic book shop but it allows me to take more titles for my money (Mrs Dimitri seems to think i should stick to some sort of "budget").

Monday, January 12, 2009 at 17:54 So as I've mentioned I've been playing Fable 2 a much welcome Christmas gift. I don't think of myself as a fan of RPG' as a rule but guess i really have been forcibly shoved out of the closet by this one. But that's not the issue, what it did highlight is an almost life-long affliction I've had, the gaming induced lost weekend.
