The BBC seems to have somewhat of a love affair with geek culture at present. Why wouldn’t they? Dr Who is a major money earner for them and with programmes like Merlin they clearly are keen to cash in to this lucrative market, and why wouldn’t they? As the legion of Geeks age (check out my grey hairs for proof) we find ourselves with ever growing disposable incomes and sales of box sets of shows like the superb BSG or Buffy etc, prove this fact.

“Graphic Novels” as those who are too embarrassed to admit that they enjoy comics call them, are enjoying somewhat of a cultural renaissance. The world seems to be slowly catching on to the fact that there are indeed worthy and interesting stories to be told in this unique story telling format. It’s undoubtedly becoming truly big business internationally, and many of the great and good are receiving the praise they deserve in their chosen medium. Neil Gaiman seems to becoming somewhat of a darling of the mainstream and Zacks Watchmen has bought the classic book to a far wider audience than it had previously enjoyed.
